Summary

PolyGlobal was commissioned to produce a range of polyurethane star wheels to be utilised on a bottling production line for a world leading drinks company. These star wheels were designed to replace existing metal and rubber components.

Project Development

Applying PolyGlobal’s experience on similar projects for production line machinery used in the food and health industries, initial customer designs were developed to maximise the operational benefits of the material options. A range of sample material hardness’s were provided to the customer and initial prototypes were then produced. After consultation and customer trials, modifications were made to the star wheel spacing’s.

Solution Advantages

PolyGlobal’s solution provided a flexible, non-jamming range of production line components that significantly reduced production run cycle times due to bespoke design modifications. Since installing these components, substantial reductions in downtime have been reported. Polyurethane offers high compression and load properties which have outperformed preexisting rubber products and have removed the risk of catastrophic part failure provided by metal alternatives.
