PolyGlobal & Wakefield Hospice – Fundraising Total

Posted on: 15th Jul 2021

Over the last couple of years PolyGlobal have been fundraising for Wakefield Hospice. The final fundraising total is now in, and a fantastic amount of £1343.64 has been raised for this worthy cause.

Wakefield Hospice's purpose-built specialist palliative care unit

Wakefield Hospice is a purpose-built specialist palliative care unit. They opened in April 1990 and provide specialist care, a Day Therapy Unit, bereavement support, therapies, education and information for patients, carers and bereaved families.

They depend largely on support from the local community through volunteering services and fundraising initiatives.

As a Wakefield based business who are committed to supporting their local community, the whole team at PolyGlobal were involved in a series of fundraising events including the Wakefield 10K Road Race, Wakefield Hospice Colour Run, Leeds Half Marathon, cake sales, dress down down days and raffles.

To give some perspective, £1343.64, will fund 5 1/2 hours of complete hospice life. Examples of how this precious time can be spent are:

  • A milestone/special occasion celebrated.
  • An assisted walk in the grounds of the hospice.
  • A soak in the specialist hoist bath to alleviate pain and encourage relaxation.
  • The last hours that loved ones will ever spend together, allowing final messages, hugs and moments to be treasured.

Many of the PolyGlobal team live within the local area and have a personal or indirect connection to the hospice, making it a special cause for them. Family members got involved in some of the events, and special mention should go to the younger members of the team who raised a fantastic amount of money for the Colour Run!

Whilst many events have had to be cancelled over the last year and working arrangements have been very different, fundraising has continued through collection boxes.

Emily Murphy, Wakefield Hospice Trusts Fundraiser, says “ Thank you so much for fundraising for Wakefield Hospice. It’s quite often said these days that in a world where you can be anything, be kind. Your kindness will have a huge effect on others  and I know they’d want me to pass on their thanks. So thank you for being the difference.”
